Global Health Perspectives

Take your DCN education even further. Apply to participate in our Global Health Perspectives program.

The Global Health Perspectives (GHP) program at Denver College of Nursing (DCN) provides unique cross-cultural learning opportunities for both students and alumni in communities around the world. This inclusive outreach program combines classroom training with service-learning internships as participants provide essential healthcare to underserved populations within and beyond our local communities.

Where Will I Travel?

Under the mentorship and supervision of DCN faculty members, GHP students travel to domestic and international locations, expanding their worldview along with their nursing expertise. Recent GHP service-learning internships have taken participants to London, Peru, Uganda, India, and the Dominican Republic.

When Can I Participate?

Students may be invited to participate in GHP from their very first quarter at DCN by showing demonstrated interest and academic success.

What’s Required of GHP Members?

Student membership in GHP requires service-learning volunteer hours and attendance at global development symposiums. DCN alumni may also apply for membership. After two quarters of GHP membership and completion of advanced medical-surgical nursing courses, students are eligible to apply for a GHP service-learning internship.

Can I Earn Clinical Credit for GHP?

Upon successful completion of GHP internships, students may earn clinical credit for their work.

Would You Like to Join GHP?

This unique outreach program provides participants with a perspective on healthcare that’s not readily available at other institutions and promises to be a highlight of your education. Apply to the GHP program for your chance to gain new perspectives, refine your skills, and enjoy a unique learning experience that will forever shape your career.
