The Best Dog-Friendly Places in Denver

Life in DenverMay 23, 2018

If you plan to attend one of our nursing programs at Denver College of Nursing, you are probably wondering about housing. Life in an exciting, historic city like Denver is an adventure. Arts, cultural, and sports attractions abound. With plenty of world-class skiing, biking, hiking and even whitewater rafting opportunities within a relatively short distance from downtown, Denver is also an excellent choice for outdoor enthusiasts.

But what about pets? If you have your heart set on bringing your pooch with you to keep you company while you study to become a registered nurse, or to earn your RN-to-BSN, you will need to consider your options carefully. Pets are not necessarily welcome wherever you might want to live. Do not be discouraged, though. There are dog-friendly places in Denver, if you know where to look.

Assuming you find suitable housing that is willing to accommodate a pet, you may wish to find other nearby venues where you and your faithful companion will be equally welcome. Be sure to respect others and keep your pet on a leash in public.

Denver Beer Company

Fido probably does not—or should not—drink beer. But you certainly can. And your favorite well-behaved pooch can accompany you while you unwind, as long as you head to the right watering hole. Denver Beer Company, at Platte St. and 17th Street, is a brewery where dogs are welcome. The patio is particularly popular in summer months.

Four Seasons Hotel Denver

Planning on out-of-town visitors? Recommend the Four Seasons and bring Spot along to visit. They are dog-friendly and accommodating to guests, even going so far as to provide a dog bed for pooches who enjoy being pampered while on the road.

Double Dutch Hair Studio

A nurse needs to take care of her hair. This dog-friendly studio is one place where you can trim your locks and hang out with your best (canine) friend at the same time. Men’s cuts also available.

Stella’s Coffeehaus

Sometimes described as “the best coffeehouse in Denver,” Stella’s is a welcoming shop with an old-time feel. Located at One South Pearl Street. A simple double-shot espresso won’t set you back more than $2. Macchiato costs just over $2. Divine. And reportedly dog-friendly. As always, your pet should be on a leash in public.

Recess Beer Garden

Check out the dog-friendly patio at this “trendy beer garden with an awesome outdoor space”. In addition to a respectable selection of beers, Recess boasts a surprisingly solid food menu. If alfresco dining and/or drinking are just what the doctor ordered, you cannot go wrong at this hopping beer garden. Bring along your fur buddy and relax under the stars. 2715 17th St., Ste. 103 (Between Erie St. and Tejon St.)

Masterpiece Delicatessen

Considered Denver’s best sandwich shop by some, Masterpiece is massively friendly to dogs and their masters. Try the Cubano sandwich, or go old-school with the Pastrami Special. It is to die for. Masterpiece offers a full menu, including breakfast (bagels, gravlox, yoghurt…), specialty coffee drinks (cappuccino, double espresso, cafe mocha…), and mouth-watering breakfast sandwiches (bacon, sautéed wild mushroom, Taylor pork roll…)…you get the picture. And that is just breakfast. Find your heart’s delight morning, noon, or until 4:00 p.m., at 1575 Central St., Denver. And bring your furry friend along, as long as you think he can stand the good smells.
